Finishing
Coatings on wood surfaces serve two important functions.
The first is technical -- to protect the wood from dirt and spills and to establish a barrier to reduce dimensional change associated with changing humidity.
The second is artistic -- to beautify the grain, color and texture of the wood itself.
Danlin Furniture Conservators, with their almost half century of furniture finishing experience, are true masters of their craft. Their expertise is recognized and appreciated by many of Chicago's most prominent interior decorators and designers as well as their many loyal residential and commercial customers.
The expert staff at Danlin can match natural/stained wood hues and tones for new pieces or to assure existing sets are returned to their original appearance. Danlin Furniture Conservators is renowned for their exquisite specialized finishes that include an almost infinite variety of painted color, special effect or faux finish looks.
Danlin finishes are the finest available in Chicago. They have a silky smoothness that comes from meticulous sanding and rubbing between each of the multiple coats that are applied, thus providing a finish depth that truly protects and enhances the wonderous beauty of the wood. And as furniture is an artform, Danlin's talented finishers are artistic in their highlighting and subtle shading techniques to skillfully enhance the grace and elegance of the piece's ornament and design.
Most typically high quality lacquers are used but there are also options for the tougher and more water resistant catalysed lacquers and conversion varnishes. These latter finishes are generally utilized for commercial or residential "hard use" situations as required for bars, conference tables, family dining surfaces, or kitchen cabinets.
